Two people have been taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in Southington Friday afternoon.
It happened at an apartment building on Aircraft Road around 4 p.m.
Fire Chief Richard Jones said crews found heavy smoke and fire when they arrived.
Firefighters rescued two people, an older man and woman, from the building. They were carried out down a ladder and were taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries is unknown.

The fire is out, but the building suffered significant damage. Many fire agencies assisted.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. The building department is at the scene and social services will help anyone that needs assistance.
Jones said a couple of the apartments are currently uninhabitable.
