Firefighters are battling a large fire in New Haven and flames and heavy smoke were visible from Interstate 95 on Wednesday morning.
The fire appears to be at a commercial building on the corner of River and Ferry streets. Police said there is heavy congestion in the area and get are asking people to avoid the area.
The FD is out with a large fire in the area of Ferry St/River St. Please avoid the area.

The fire danger is very high in New Haven County as well as in New London, Middlesex and Windham counties.
It is listed as extreme in Hartford, Fairfield, Litchfield and Tolland counties.
