A person has died after a fire destroyed a home in Montville on Friday morning.
Crews responded to a home on Kitemaug Road around 3:30 a.m. and spent hours battling the fire.
Norwich Firefighters Local 892 posted on Facebook that crews from an engine reported a partial collapse.

Photos from the scene later in the morning showed that the whole house collapsed. Some of it was smoldering several hours after the fire started.
Officials said a person died in the fire, but their identity is unknown at this time.

Route 32 and several local streets were closed while crews were dealing with the aftermath of the fire. They have since reopened.
