Fire erupted in a home in the Rockville section of Vernon Wednesday morning.

Crews responded to the two-family home on Union Street just before 10:30 a.m.

The call initially came in as a lightning strike, but the actual cause of the fire has not yet been determined, according to Vernon police.

Everyone inside the home was able to get out safely, police said.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames, but the home sustained significant damage. Five people were displaced.
