Eleven people have been forced out of their homes after a structure fire early Friday morning in New Haven.
Firefighters responded to a fully involved fire on 33 Sheffield Avenue just after 3:30 a.m.
According to officials, the 2-alarm fire started in one home and spread to two homes nearby. A firefighter had to be evaluated on the scene but is reported to be conscious and alert.
United Illuminating turned off the power to that neighborhood as a safety precaution and it is unclear when that power will be restored.
A bus was brought in to keep the victims warm while crews investigate. The Red Cross has been called in to assist the victims.
