Gas leak closes road in Glastonbury for hours

NBC Connecticut

Commerce Road in Glastonbury was closed for hours after a gas leak on Wednesday morning.

A post on the town’s Facebook page says that a contractor who was performing work for Bemer Petroleum informed the Glastonbury fire marshal of propane leaks at the Commerce Street business site around 8 a.m. and the fire marshal, fire department and police department responded and shut down the area from 132 Commerce St. to the corner of Oakwood Drive and Commerce Street.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Emergency Response Team responded to evaluate the situation and the propane leaks have been controlled and do not pose an immediate threat, according to the town social media account.
