A Waterbury man is accused of giving deer that “deer in the headlights” looks and then hunting them down.
The problem is that deer hunters have to play fair and what Gustavao Useda, 50, did was just plain cheating, according to cops.
Useda is accused of jacklighting, which means illegally shining a light into an animal's eyes to kill it. Deer tend to freeze when a light is shined on them, police said, and using a light to hunt deer at night is illegal.
Useda was charged with possessing jacklight equipment after cops spotted him in a wooded area of Seymour over the weekend. Police told the Connecticut Post they also found marijuana and a pipe.
He has been freed after posting $1,000 bond.
