A man who authorities say led a heroin selling ring linked to overdoses in eastern Connecticut is expected to be sentenced to five years in prison.
Xavier Diaz is scheduled to be sentenced Monday in federal court in Hartford.
The 30-year-old Willimantic resident pleaded guilty in August to a drug charge that carries a mandatory-minimum, five-year sentence.
Federal agents say Diaz led a heroin ring in the Willimantic area linked to an overdose death in 2017 and several nonfatal overdoses over the past few years.
Diaz was among seven people indicted in the case. Authorities say he was arrested in October 2018 when agents found about 1,000 bags of heroin, a stolen firearm and ammunition in Diaz's home, as well as $20,000 in cash in a storage unit.
