Enfield police said someone inside a home on Asnuntuck Street in the Thompsonville section of town called 911 around 1:51 a.m. Thursday to report a home invasion.
Police said the intruders broke a glass panel on a door on the ground level of a multifamily home, went inside and up to a third-floor unit where one of the three people pointed a gun at a male occupant.
Officers responded and confronted three suspects who were in a vehicle outside the home, but they fled and almost hit two police officers who were outside their vehicles, police said.

“In essence, two separate near misses in the same encounter,” said Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox. “They were ordering the individuals to comply with the officers’ demands, and the individuals did not comply.”
State police located the vehicle, a white car, heading south on Interstate 91, but were not able to get the vehicle to stop, police said.
A neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, said she heard a woman at the home speaking to police early this morning.

“I heard her talk about a person who was watching her house in a white car,” she explained. “I’m surprised, I guess, but not really. This is not an ideal neighborhood.”
Maiy Aden lives nearby and said she’s noticed the neighborhood decline over the years.
“It’s not the most unusual thing, but I never heard about anybody being held at gunpoint, that’s for sure,” she said. “I’m still stunned.”
Chief Fox said he’s grateful his officers weren’t injured.
“These individuals go out there, it is their job but it’s also their calling. They find themselves in harm’s way, day in and day out,” the chief said. “I’m very grateful and I hope everyone is very grateful for the sacrifices and potential sacrifices these officers engage in.”
No one inside the home was injured.
Police are investigating and following leads to identify suspects.
