Power restored to hundreds after downed tree causes brush fire in Thompson

Power has been restored to over 500 people that lost power in Thompson after a downed tree caused a brush fire Tuesday night.

The East Putnam Fire Department said they assisted Thompson firefighters in the area of Thompson Road.

Eversource reported just over 550 homes without power, or about 11% of residents. Power was restored late Tuesday.

Thompson Road, also known as State Route 193, was closed between Robbins Road and Lambert Road, according to the CT Department of Transportation. State police said the road reopened just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

No additional information was immediately available.
