One man is dead following a fiery crash on I-91 south in Wallingford after two separate crashes closed the highway Saturday morning.
A tractor-trailer was headed south on I-91 south in the left lane when a 2006 Dodge Stratus veered left into the truck's trailer six tenths of a mile north of exit 13. The car became wedged under the trailer and caught fire. The crash happened at about 6:21 a.m.
The driver of the Dodge, David Sanchez, 31, of North Haven, succumbed to injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on scene.
Family members have been notified.
The truck and Dodge were towed from the scene.
State police did not provide details on the second accident.
The crash has been cleared after the road was closed for several hours and traffic is getting by again.
