Police ID man and woman killed in fiery crash on I-95 ramp in Groton

A man and a woman were killed in a crash on Interstate 95 in Groton when the pickup they were in went off the road, hit a guardrail and a tree and caught fire on Friday night, according to state police.

The one-vehicle crash happened around 9:20 p.m.

State police said a red 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 was on the exit 87 off-ramp from I-95 North when it went off the road, then hit a guardrail face and a tree and caught fire.

The driver and passenger died at the scene.

State police have identified the driver as Timothy I. Montague, 36, and the passenger as 34-year-old Lori Lynn Botero. Both were from New London.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded to the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
