Middle school student in Meriden arrested in connection to threat made on social media

There is an increased police presence at a middle school in Meriden this week after a threat was made on social media and a student has been arrested.

Officers learned about a Snapchat post that was going around on social media on Sunday morning. The post reportedly made threats against "Edison" students.

While investigating, officials said they determined where the threat originated. They then made contact with the Edison Middle School student who allegedly made the threatening post.

There will be an increased police presence at a middle school in Meriden this week after a threat was made on social media and a student has been arrested.

A crisis intervention specialist responded to the student's home and conducted an evaluation.

That student has been charged with threatening and breach of peace. He was released to his parents and is scheduled to appear in juvenile court on Monday.

According to police, the student will also be subject to further disciplinary action from the Board of Education.

Starting Monday, there is an increased police presence at Edison Middle School.
