A local attorney who represented Fotis Dulos in civil cases and is described by police as a "close personal friend" to Fotis has been charged in connection with the disappearance of Fotis' estranged wife Jennifer Dulos.
Kent Mawhinney, 54, was arrested Tuesday and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Bond was set at $2 million.
Jennifer has been missing since May 24, 2019.
Fotis was arrested on murder charges in the case Tuesday. His girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
State police said in the arrest warrant that Mawhinney's name appeared on what they call the "Alibi Scripts" written by Dulos and Troconis to lay out their planned alibi story.
Troconis told detectives during her three interviews that Mawhinney was present in the offices for Dulos' company, the Fore Group, on the morning of May 24 for a meeting with Dulos. The office is located above the garage of Dulos' Farmington home.

State police detectives interviewed Mawhinney on June 9 and June 25 "to obtain his personal knowledge of the events which transpired in the Fore Group office...and specifically any contact he may have had with Dulos, Troconis, or any other persons on the day of Jennifer's disappearance."
Mawhinney denied having contact with either Dulos or Troconis on May 24. However, investigators found that his cell phone "pinged" in the area of the Fore Group offices between 7:29 a.m. and 8:22 a.m., suggesting he was in the office as Troconis had claimed.
Police also presented evidence from the Windsor Rod & Gun Club in East Granby, a club Mawhinney helped establish.
According to the warrant, two members of the club were walking through the woods on May 18 when they found a large pit in the ground. The hole was covered by two barbecue grates, and "small branches and leaves had been placed on the grill grates to hide the pit beneath." The men said the hole was about two feet wide and six feet long and resembled a human grave. They also observed two unopened bags of Lime.
One of the men later reported the hole to police. According to the warrant, the witness later realized that Mawhinney was involved in the Jennifer Dulos case, and that he would have had access to the property, and brought this information to police.
Connecticut State Police responded to the property with K9s and checked the area, but found no evidence of human remains or anything suspicious.
Mawhinney is due in court on Wednesday.
