Police surrounded a home in Waterbury for several hours as they dealt with a barricaded person on Thursday afternoon.
Police said the person was barricaded inside 43 Central Avenue.
The incident began as a dispute between two neighbors, according to police.
Police said when officers arrived, one of the neighbors, 31-year-old Corey Wheeler became combative and assaulted the officers as they tried to enter the home.

Wheeler then barricaded himself inside, police said.
As officers demanded that Wheeler come out of the house, they heard what sounded like a gunshot and saw what appeared to be a handgun, according to police.
At that point, the rest of the building was evacuated and a negotiation team and a Crisis Intervention Team were called to the scene.

After more than three hours, officers entered the home and safely took Wheeler into custody.
The weapon in Wheeler's possession turned out to be a pepper ball pistol, police said. Police also recovered a large sword, and illegal drugs, they said.
Wheeler was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
He is facing several charges, including assault on a police officer, second-degree criminal attempt at assault, interfering with an officer, second-degree reckless endangerment, and various drug charges.
