A Wethersfield firefighter has died and two others were injured when an ATV rolled over at the scene of the Hawthorne Fire on Lamentation Mountain in Berlin Tuesday evening.

Authorities have released the name of a firefighter who died after a utility task vehicle rolled over at the scene of a massive brush fire on Lamentation Mountain Tuesday evening.

Authorities have released the name of a firefighter who died after a utility task vehicle rolled over at the scene of a massive brush fire on Lamentation Mountain Tuesday evening.

Officials said a Wethersfield firefighter died and three others were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. They have since been released.

A fire UTV rolled over on a trail while working to extinguish a brush fire that has already extended 80 to 90 acres.

A crash involving a fire vehicle was reported at 5:35 p.m. The UTV was operating on the south end of the fire when it rolled over with four firefighters inside, according to officials.

Parks closed due to Hawthorne fire in Berlin

A state park and a city park are closed as crews continue their work to put out a massive brush fire in Berlin.

The fire on Lamentation Mountain, which is now being coined the Hawthorne fire, resulted in the closure of Lamentation Mountain State Park and Giuffrida Park in Meriden.

The parks will remain closed until further notice.

Red flag warning issued for fire danger across Connecticut for Wednesday

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for fire danger for all of Connecticut on Wednesday.

The warning is in effect from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Winds will pick up on Wednesday, adding to the danger. They are expected to be 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 30 mph, according to the NWS.

Dry condition will continue as well, with relative humidity as low as 40%.

Injuries have been reported after a reported crash involving a fire UTV near the brush fire on Lamentation Mountain in Berlin Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said they are responding to the scene.

A Wethersfield fire vehicle was involved. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.

CT National Guard activated, Maine forestry crew will dump water on Berlin fire from the air

The Connecticut National Guard has been activated to help deal with the fire on Lamentation Mountain in the Berlin-Meriden area, according to Gov. Ned Lamont. They will use a Chinook helicopter and a Blackhawk helicopter to dump water on the fire.

The head of emergency management for Connecticut said the state has also asked the Maine Forestry Division for air support to help douse the fire from above. The crew from Maine is expected to be in Connecticut by Wednesday morning.

Governor to give update on fire

Gov. Ned Lamont, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Katie Dykes and emergency management officials will be giving an update at 4 p.m. on the brush fire at Lamentation Mountain in Berlin.

It will be in the parking lot of the Days Inn on the Berlin Turnpike in Berlin.

Firefighters are back out to battle a brush fire in Berlin that has burned 25 acres since Monday night. 

The Connecticut National Guard has been activated to help deal with the fire on Lamentation Mountain in the Berlin-Meriden area, according to Gov. Ned Lamont.
