Man Attacked School Bus Driver: Cops

The driver apparently didn't wait long enough at the bus stop, police said.

A Dayville man is accused of injuring a school bus driver because he did not think the driver waited at a stop long enough.

Richard Doyle, 51, got on the bus heading to Killingly Central School around 8 a.m. Thursday because he thought the bus driver didn't wait at the previous bus stop long enough and started an altercation that caused minor injuries to the bus driver, police said.

It was unclear if Doyle was the father of one of the children on the bus, but the Norwich Bulletin reports that the bus did not stop long enough for his child to board the bus.

Police found Doyle at his house and he was charged with injury or risk of injury, impairing the morals of a child, disorderly conduct, a fight with a dangerous instrument and additional charges. He is scheduled to appear in court in Danielson on Sept. 23.
