Man killed in motorcycle crash in New Haven

A man has died after a motorcycle crash in New Haven on Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called to Chapel Street around 2:30 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle.

When police arrived, they said the motorcyclist, later identified as 43-year-old Michael Borelli, of New Haven, was found with serious injuries.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said a Chevy Malibu was driving west on Chapel Street near the intersection with Union Street when it began to turn left onto Union Street.

According to police, the motorcyclist was traveling east on Chapel Street and collided with the front of the vehicle as it began to turn left.

Chapel Street was closed between State Street and Olive Street. The area has since reopened.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
