Man struck by vehicle in Bridgeport is critically injured

A man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a street in Bridgeport on Sunday night.

Dispatchers received a call about a collision involving a pedestrian in the 2000 block of Boston Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Callers said a pedestrian had been struck, but the person was alert and breathing while lying on the ground.

Investigators said a 52-year-old male from Bridgeport was driving a 1995 Chevy Camaro Z28 when he hit a 73-year-old male from Bridgeport who was attempting to cross Boston Avenue from the sidewalk.

The 73-year-old man received medical attention at the scene and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital Medical Center. His injuries are described as serious and he is currently listed in critical condition.

The 52-year-old man who was driving the Chevy Camaro was not injured and refused medical attention.
