The court case of an East Hartford man charged with punching a University of Connecticut student who later died has been continued to the end of the month.
Edi Rapo, 19, was appeared briefly in Rockville Superior Court on Wednesday. He didn't enter pleas to second-degree assault and other charges, and was ordered to return to court on May 25.
Rapo was arrested after the April 23 fight with Jafar Karzoun, 20, of Milford, who died from his injuries last Saturday. Rapo was charged before Karzoun died, and prosecutors are expected to file more serious charges.
Police say Rapo, who is not a UConn student, punched Karzoun in the face on the first night of UConn's annual Spring Weekend parties. Rapo told police he didn't expect to seriously harm Karzoun.
