A 20-year-old man has died after an early morning shooting in New Haven.
The shooting happened at approximately 4:10 a.m. near Lombard Street between Poplar Street and Ferry Street, officials said. Police said they responded to a Shotspotter alert and multiple 911 calls.
Police identified the man who died as Kevan Bonilla, of Bridgeport. He was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials said he died from gunshot wounds.

“I was just on the scene, and this loss of life is heartbreaking. The national trend of increased violence is battering families and unfortunately New Haven isn’t immune to the trend,” said Mayor Justin Elicker.
