Two people were shot and killed in a car in New Haven back in early April. Today, New Haven leaders updated the public on their investigation and announced they have made an arrest in the case.
Police initially were alerted to a ShotSpotter activation just before 8 a.m. on April 1, reporting several rounds of gunfire in the area of Winthrop Avenue and Goffe Terrace followed by several 911 calls about a shooting.
Officers found two people in a parked vehicle who were suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.
The male driver, later identified as Marquis Darnell McNeil, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male passenger, later identified as Jonathan Garcia, 27, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he later died.
Police announced today that Cadell Harris, 39, was charged with both murders and is due to be arraigned in court this afternoon.
Investigators connected Harris to the alleged murder weapon and also cited DNA evidence that placed him at the scene.

The suspect was on parole for a weapon violation, according to police. Harris is also on the deadly offender registry.
Harris was previously arrested in 2010 for allegedly firing at police after a fight out a New Haven nightclub.
At least one of the victims knew Harris personally, according to police.
