Bradley International Airport has launched a COVID-19 testing site at the airport for passengers, officials announced on Wednesday.
"This is one of very few testing sites in the country that are located at an airport terminal,” Kevin Dillon, executive director of the Connecticut Airport Authority said.
The state has partnered with Connecticut-based Genesys Diagnostics to operate the testing site.
Testing will be limited to arriving and departing passengers and airport employees. Passengers will be asked to show a boarding pass from that day in order to be eligible for the test, according to Dillon. They will still have to fill out a Travel Advisory Form.
Genesis Diagnostics will process insurance claims or will take credit card payments for the tests. The cost is $125 for those not going through their insurance.
The testing site will be located on the lower level of the airport across from Baggage Claim carousels 5 and 6.
Passengers are urged to pre-register for the tests before arriving at the airport. Those passengers wishing to pre-register can do so here.
The Connecticut Airport Authority is unsure what demand for testing at the airport will be right away, Dillon said.
The site has the ability to handle 45 to 50 people at a time and the results from the nasal swabs are available within 24 hours, Dillon said.
If needed, there are talks in the works of expanding testing to another site at the airport, according to Dillon. The additional site would be a drive-thru location set up in one of the airport's parking lots or garages.
