Officials have announced $100 million in investments to Tweed-New Haven Airport.
Tweed-New Haven Airport officials and the current airport operator, Avports LLC, announced the agreement Thursday morning.
Avelo Airlines also said it plans to make the Connecticut airport its first East Coast base.

According to a news release from Tweed-New Haven, the more-than-$100-million project will create thousands of local jobs and eliminate the need for existing state and city subsidies -- $1.8 million per year.
Officials said Tweed-New Haven will create thousands of temporary jobs and hundreds of permanent ones.
They said Avports plans to build a new terminal at no cost to local taxpayers, and also lengthen the existing runway to allow for more direct flights to more destinations.

Elicker said he has heard noise concerns from neighbors and this agreement will improve the current situation and decompress some of the existing noise.
He said the plan also includes changes in the timing of flights and eliminates the city subsidy.
U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro called Tweed-New Haven Airport one of the best regional airports in the country.
There are two phases to the project and an environmental assessment will need to be done and that is expected to take about a year.
