Person Fleeing From Head-On Crash Hit, Killed by Car on Route 8

State police have identified the person who fled from a head-on crash in Naugatuck and was hit by multiple vehicles and killed on Route 8 on Saturday.

Naugatuck Police say two cars had collided head-on around 8:30 p.m. on the Prospect Street overpass.

One of the drivers involved in the crash, later identified as 24-year-old Anthony Meier, of Prospect, fled the area on foot. Investigators said witnesses reported he was hit by multiple cars after jumping from the Prospect Street bridge.

Meier was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

A portion of Prospect Street and both sides of Route 8 were closed for an investigation. The areas have since reopened.
