A state trooper is one of two people who were taken to the hospital following an accident on the Gold Star Bridge in Groton Thursday afternoon, state police said.
State police said a driver was trying to slow down shortly after 3 p.m. and hit the back of a police vehicle that was stopped, with the lights on, as a construction pattern was being retrieved.
The driver who hit the police vehicle spun and collided with two other vehicles, according to police.
The state trooper suffered an arm fracture, state police said.

Authorities said a portion of the bridge was closed for several hours following the crash.
The crash was reported at about 3:10 p.m. Drivers were asked to take alternate routes and plan for delays.
