Man fatally struck by train in East Haven

A 52-year-old man was fatally struck by a CTrail train in East Haven over the weekend.

Amtrak Police contacted East Haven Public Safety Dispatch Center on Saturday around 6:30 p.m. to report a pedestrian had been hit by a train.

According to East Haven police, the pedestrian was hit near Saltonstall Parkway and Forbes Place.

Officials from the state Department of Transportation said a CTrail train hit the person and Amtrak is leading the investigation.

The pedestrian who was hit later died, police said. Amtrak identified the man as 52-year-old Carlos Brizuela Yera.

The investigation is ongoing.
