On Saturday, a pedestrian was struck in West Hartford Center and suffered serious injuries.

On Wednesday morning, a group help a protest about safety on the streets.

"We need to look out for one another and appreciate each other and slow down," Tracy Frankel, of West Hartford, said.

West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor let residents know the town hears their plea for help.

She said the town allocated $100,000 for analysis of crashes and what officials can do. Cantor said she is requesting and working toward getting more cameras installed at traffic lights.

She said she believes that will not only help deter some of these incidents but also help officers to collect data when they do occur.
