Man with gunshot wound involved in rollover crash in New Haven has died: police

A man who was involved in a rollover crash in New Haven on Saturday was found with a gunshot wound and has died.

Emergency crews responded to a rollover crash in the 300 block of Russell Street around 2 p.m.

Once there, firefighters found a 35-year-old New Haven man in a black Honda CR-V.

The man was unresponsive and as he was being placed in the ambulance, authorities said paramedics found a gunshot wound to his back.

He was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where he later died. He has been identified as Cedric Goodwin.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Detectives do not believe it was a random attack. Ballistic evidence was reportedly found in the roadway nearby.

It is believed that the man was being targeted and there is no danger to the public.
