A Cheshire town official said Tello was a student at the high school, and students were dismissed early on Monday.
"I think it's just a huge sense of loss for the school community. I think it's always sad when young people have to deal with tragedy like this," Cheshire Human Services Director Michelle Piccerillo said.
Piccerillo said there have been a couple of other significant losses for the school community this year. The school is offering support to students by making five staff members from the town's social services department available.

"Making sure that mental health support is available to young people and that they know how to access it is something that this school system does a really great job of," she said.
Piccerillo said about 25 to 30 students have utilized these resources so far.
Tello's cause and manner of death are being investigated by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The crash remains under investigation by the Cheshire Police Department Traffic Division and the Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team.
The area was briefly closed on Sunday evening and has since reopened.
