A person who was on a scooter has died after a hit-and-run in West Haven on Thursday night, according to police.
Police said the scooter collided with a car that took off.
Officers were called to the area of First Avenue and Mix Ave just after 7:15 p.m. and crews performed lifesaving measures on the person who had been riding the scooter.
He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

Authorities don't know whether he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Police are continuing to investigate and said Friday morning that the person's family has not been notified.
A witness told police that the car involved in the crash fled onto Interstate 95. Investigators are still looking for the vehicle.

The Major Accident Squad was called in to conduct an investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the West Haven Traffic Division.
So far this month, at least 18 people have been hit by cars across the state.
