Waterbury police have released photos from inside the house where a man said he was held captive for nearly 20 years.
Kimberly Sullivan, a Waterbury woman who is accused of locking her stepson in a room in their home and starving him for decades, entered a not guilty plea on Friday to charges that included kidnapping and felony assault.
Officials noted that the 32-year-old man was “extremely emaciated,” weighing only 68 pounds.
Sullivan's attorney, Ioannis Kaloidis, issued a statement Tuesday about the release of the photos by police:

"The release of sensitive evidence by the Waterbury Police Department in a pending and active investigation is shocking, offensive and quite frankly, ethically questionable. It only serves to solidify public opinion against Ms. Sullivan. Justice requires the protection of constitutional rights and ultimately, a fair trial. We call for an immediate investigation into the release of these photos and videos. We intend to fight these outrageous allegations every step of the way."
