A small plane heading to Meriden was forced to make an emergency landing at Brainard Airport in Hartford Saturday night, according to officials.
The pilot was the only one on board when his plane's engine caught on fire, said Chief Leigh Shapiro of the Hartford Fire Department.
Firefighters responded at around 10:23 p.m.
The airport was closed as firefighters extinguished the flames. No other parts of the plane was affected.
The pilot was not injured.
