Police are investigating after an altercation turned fatal in Hartford Wednesday night.

Police are investigating after an altercation turned deadly in Hartford Wednesday night.

A 46-year-old Hartford man was shot in the area of Main Street and Capen Street at about 8:30 p.m. Responding officers said they found the man, Lamonte Brown, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said they were able to see a man and woman confront the victim on surveillance footage. The man shot Brown several times, and he and the woman ran away.

Authorities are actively looking for the shooter and the woman he was with.

It is believed that the people involved knew each other.

Police are looking at camera footage in the area and are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 860-722-8477.

The shooting marks the city's 36th homicide this year.
