Dispatchers received a call just before 4 a.m. reporting someone stabbed on Alden Street.

When police arrived to the scene, they said a man was suffering from a gunshot wound and numerous stab wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead, police added. His identity has not been released.

According to investigators, two people were detained as they tried to leave the area. One of the men had a gunshot wound and the other had stab wounds, but both are expected to survive, authorities added.

The two injured individuals were later arrested in connection with the person's death and are expected to face murder charges, according to officials.

Authorities believe this was a targeted attack and was not random.

Hartford Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and assumed the investigation. This marks the 19th homicide in Hartford this year.
