Police identify man killed in New Haven shooting

Police are investigating a homicide after a daytime shooting on Wolcott Street in New Haven on Monday.

A 42-year-old man was shot and killed in New Haven in broad daylight on Monday afternoon and police are searching for the shooter.

Police said officers responded to several 911 calls and a ShotSpotter alert around 12:38 p.m. about several gunshots in the area of Wolcott Street by Ferry Street and found Peter Arroyo, 42, of New Haven, on the ground.

He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect.

Multiple roads in the area were closed for hours as police conducted an investigation.
