A man shot and killed his ex-wife before killing himself in her home in Ansonia Thursday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to the home on Westfield Avenue around 5 a.m. for a report of a serious assault. When they arrived, the found a woman and man inside the house suffering from gunshot wounds.
The woman, identified as 45-year-old Miguelina Lebron, was rushed to the hospital where she died.
The man died at the scene. He has been identified as 47-year-old Yanis Tavarez, of Bridgeport. Tavarez forced his way into the home and confronted Lebron, according to police.

Police said Tavarez and Lebron were divorced. The couple had three children together. Two of the couple's teenage children were home at the time of the shooting but were not hurt, police said. The third child had already left home for work, they said.
Lebron had been living at the home in Ansonia since March, according to police.
Ansonia police had no prior history with the family.
