
A man was grazed by a bullet when gunshots were fired at a bar in Willimantic on St. Patrick’s Day, according to police.
Officers responded to Blarney’s Café on High Street in Willimantic around 10 p.m. after getting a 911 call reporting that gunshots were fired from within the attached patio area.
A man’s arm had been grazed by a bullet and he was taken to Windham Hospital, where his injury was determined to be non-life-threatening, police said.
They believe the person or people responsible, as well as other customers, left the area immediately.

Police believe that local residents got into a dispute and the incident does not appear to be random. They said there appears to be no ongoing threat to the community or nearby college campus.
Police said they are looking into the possibility of an additional victim or other involved parties who have not yet come forward.

The bar is near Eastern Connecticut State University and an alert on Eastern Connecticut State University’s website said Willimantic Police responded to a shooting on High Street in Willimantic and the suspects have fled the area.
The alert urged students to avoid the area and stay indoors if you are able.
School officials said no students were involved. Students are home this week on spring vacation.
