Man refused to exit vehicle, referenced Vegas Cybertruck attack in East Windsor: police

NBC Connecticut

Route 5 in East Windsor has reopened after an investigation into suspicious packages briefly closed the area on Wednesday morning.

An officer saw a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Wendy's on Prospect Hill Road around 3 a.m. when the restaurant was closed.

When the officer asked the driver for identification, the driver reportedly refused and claimed he wasn't breaking any laws.

Police said the driver was claiming officers were "messing with the wrong guy" and he was "live," presumably on social media.

After a few more attempts to get the driver to identify himself and get out of the vehicle, he was removed and arrested.

According to police, a search was conducted in his vehicle and several wrapped items were found that were ticking and beeping.

Once officers questioned the driver about the contents, police said he began to scream to "just open them" and "you'll find out" without saying what was inside.

The driver also reportedly started talking about the recent domestic terror incident involving a Tesla Cybertruck that was intentionally blown up.

The Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad was called to assess the packages.

The roads were closed until the packages could be investigated. The roads have since reopened.

The packages were ultimately cleared and deemed safe.

The driver was charged with trespass, interfering with an officer and breach of peace.
