An 88-year-old man has died after a crash on Interstate 91 South in Enfield on Friday afternoon.
State police said William Higgins, 88, of Enfield, was driving on Route 5 around 2:30 p.m. when he left the road, went through a wooded grassy area onto I-91 South and collided with a truck.
Higgins was transported to Hartford Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck was taken to Hartford Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The crash closed the highway through the evening rush on Friday and caused major traffic issues. The highway has since fully reopened.
