A 74-year-old Hartford man has serious injuries after he was hi ton Route 2 West in Colchester on Tuesday night by a driver who state police said left the scene.
Troopers responded to Route 2 West near exit 17 around 7:15 p.m.
State police said the victim was standing outside his vehicle when a driver in a dark blue Jeep Cherokee veered into the shoulder of the road and hit him. It has damage to the passenger side mirror and door handle.
State police said LifeStar flew the man to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The state police accident reconstruction team was called to investigate. The highway was briefly closed in the area and has since reopened.
