Route 44 is closed near the Norfolk/North Canaan line because of a serious motor vehicle crash that resulted in a brush fire Friday evening.
Authorities said the road is closed in both directions. Several agencies are responding to the scene.
State police said they were called to the area after a car crashed into a utility pole. Two people were injured, one of which was taken to the hospital by a LifeStar helicopter.
Crews said a tree fell onto power lines and a pickup truck. The broken power lines caused a brush fire in two different locations.
