Person missing in New Haven Harbor found safe in Stratford: Coast Guard

A person who went missing in New Haven Harbor early Friday morning was found safe on some rocks in Stratford, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The person went missing while placing booms around a ship in the harbor around 2 a.m. The person possibly became disoriented, according to a Coast Guard spokesperson.

A boat from Coast Guard Station New Haven and a helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod were launched to help with the search.

Rescuers pinged the missing individual's cellphone and it came back near Woodmont Beach in Milford.

The Coast Guard helicopter and Stratford police located the missing person on some rocks near Stratford Point Lighthouse around 7:30 a.m.

He had beached his boat and was in good condition, according to the Coast Guard spokesperson.
