Driver Charged With Manslaughter in Double Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Hartford

Hartford police have charged the driver they say hit and killed two men on Blue Hills Avenue Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at the intersection of Blue Hills Avenue and Holcomb Street around 6:30 a.m.

According to investigators, a car was speeding north on Blue Hills Avenue when it struck two people who were crossing the street. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, 30-year-old Billy Hamilton, of Vernon, remained on the scene, police said. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

According to police, probable cause was developed to arrest Hamilton. He is charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter and two counts of reckless driving.

Two pedestrians have died after a crash on Blue Hills Avenue in Hartford on Wednesday morning and part of the road is closed.

The victims who died have been identified as 36-year-old Corey Richmond, of New Haven, and 49-year-old Steve Famiglietti, of Hartford.
