Man hit by SUV on Route 8 in Shelton has serious injuries

A 40-year-old man who was struck by an SUV on Route 8 in Shelton on Sunday morning has serious injuries, according to state police.

They said a driver in a 2020 Ford EcoSport was heading south on Route 8 near the exit 9 on-ramp just before 5:30 a.m. when he struck a man who was in the road.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old Seymour man, suffered serious life-threatening injuries and he was transported to St. Vincent Hospital, according to state police.

The driver was not injured, according to a news release from state police.
