Soft Lockdown at Solomon Schechter Day School in West Hartford

The Solomon Schechter Day School in West Hartford is on “soft lockdown” and police have responded as a precaution after a teacher received a threatening message.

Police said the staff and students are safe, but officers are searching the campus as a precaution.

The message said, “This is not a drill. There is someone on campus with a weapon.” Then the message asked the recipient to reply “ok,” police said.

The school is in a soft lockdown, which means the doors are open and people can move about in the school, but no one is to leave or come.

The lockdown was still in effect as of 1 p.m. and police said some parents have arrived to take their children home.
