Connecticut Company Created New Hampshire Medicaid Billing System

After years of delays and contract extensions, the state of New Hampshire's Medicaid billing system has received certification from the federal government and a Connecticut company created the system.

The certification means the state of new Hampshire will be eligible for at least $6 million in back payments from the federal government, money the Department of Health and Human Services has been relying on to help balance its books.

The system, created by Norwalk, Connecticut-based Xerox, processes claims and reimburses thousands of providers statewide that care for Medicaid beneficiaries. The system was plagued with errors when it first went online in 2013, causing delays in many provider payments.

New Hampshire first signed a contract with Xerox in 2005 and amended it several times due to delays.

The certification process began in April. Xerox officials did not say when the certification became official.
