The long history of the donut on this National Donut Day

Did you know Salvation Army volunteers created the donut during World War I? The organization is also credited with creating National Donut Day two decades later. Now, on the first Friday of every June, they hand out donuts to veterans as a way to continue that long legacy of offering troops comfort and care through the sweet treat.
