The Rent is Too Damn High guy is such a cult figure that it was just a matter of time before he became an action figure too.
The guys at HeroBuilders in Oxford just launched a talking version and a silent version of a Jimmy McMillan doll, the New York gubernatorial candidate who became a household name with a wacky performance during a debate.
HeroBuilders isn’t afraid to tackle controversial figures. When they made Sarah Palin dolls, they offered her in everything from a suit to a sexy schoolgirl outfit, Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell comes as an executive, and also in witch’s attire.
Emil Vicale, owner of the company said he just had to make the McMillan doll.
“The rent is too damn high from Brooklyn (New York, that is) to Oxford,” Vicale said. “I had to make him. He is the coolest politician ever. He’s got that crazy beard. This man should have his own TV show.”
Sales started late Monday night and the doll is already selling.
“He’s just a funny guy,” Vicale said. “I think he’s going be great seller.”
The silent version is $39.95, while the talking version goes for $49.95.
