Think Big, Dodd Says

RALEIGH, N.C. – It’s time to think big and restore optimism in this country, Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., said Monday.

Those are the opportunities that the long-delayed need to invest in the nation's infrastructure provide he said on the first day of North Carolina State University's Emerging Issues Forum, which brings together public policy leaders to discuss and debate challenges.

America seems ready to face its big problems and tackle them, Dodd said. One is the pressing need to update and repair airports, bridges and water systems long taken for granted.

The big challenge creates big opportunities like a high-speed, coast-to-coast freight railroad that could compete with the Panama Canal as a faster way to move goods from Asia to Europe, Dodd said.
